Can Adjusting Your AC Help You Sleep Better?

Did you know the average adult is supposed to get eight hours of sleep a night? Honestly, how many adults are actually able to comfortably get a full eight hours every night? The answer is, not many. While there are numerous reasons as to why someone isn’t able to sleep well, there are a few that are controllable, like adjusting your diet and the temperature of your room.

Your body temperature naturally rises and falls throughout the day, so if you’re sleeping in a room that’s too hot or cold, then it’s interfering with your body’s natural ability to adjust to comfortable temperatures while you’re sleeping. The ideal temperatures for sleeping range from 60 to 67 degrees Fahrenheit, and if it’s far higher or lower than the recommended range then it could lead to restlessness and disturbed sleep, leaving you feeling exhausted.

Adjusting your AC/heating unit can make all the difference when you’re trying to get a good night’s rest. However, it isn’t just the temperature of your room that you should be concerned with – your home’s air quality is also a concern. Poor indoor air quality can affect how well you sleep. Replacing air filters can make a significant difference with your home’s air quality. Don’t let old, dirty filters affect your sleep by risking an increase in coughing and sneezing, along with giving you congestion.

Play around with your thermostat and find the right temperature for you, so you can have the best sleep possible. Make sure to replace old air filters to prevent poor air quality from affecting how you feel in the morning. Norfolk Air Heating and Cooling will test your air quality and replace filters to help ensure that you stay cozy in your home. Stop waking up exhausted and start waking up refreshed and ready for the day!
